Mothers Day Brunch
"Ugh... I really overdid it this time," Clove groaned, leaning against the wall with one hand and cradling her gurgling stomach in the other.
She had received the flyer under her door a few days ago: an invitation to a "mothers-only" brunch with some of the other tenants of the apartment complex. While they had all sent her gifts, none of Clove's daughters were going to be able to visit in-person this year, so she had decided that a brunch like this could be a fun treat.
A fun treat, yes, but maybe a little much. More women had come to the brunch than Clove had expected. Now the rabbits writhed in Clove's gut, kicking and screaming for help. Her stomach was already starting to rumble and gurgle in preparation to handle the large meal. At least the diner where they were holding it had even given them a private room, giving Clove a moment to compose herself before leaving.
"Hrp!" Clove's breath caught, and her stomach turned, as she felt one of the rabbits start to claw her way back up the hare's throat.
"No you don't!" Clove took a deep breath and then swallowed hard. She felt the frantic rabbit slide back down her gullet, rejoining the others in their cramped space.
Clove's mouth opened again, and she released a loud belch.
"Guh... glad none of my girls are here," she said, wiping her mouth. She couldn't help but smirk to herself. Yes, she was definitely going to regret this meal later -- but she couldn't deny that it had been satisfying.
She gave her bulging gut a pat, then started to stumble towards the exit. It was time to get home and take a nice Mother's Day nap.
So apparently it's Mother's Day in some parts of the world today! So here's a drawing/story of Clove, celebrating Mother's Day by ruining it for everyone else.
I got the new version of Clip Studio and am trying to figure out how to work it into my workflow. In this case, I did the lines and flat color in Krita, then switched to Clip for text boxes (the new tool for that is great), shades, and various other bits of processing. Full disclosure, I used Clip Studio's new "shading assist" for most of the shading on this -- I'll experiment with it more on future pictures, but this time I more or less just left it on the default settings. It's surprisingly good, and I don't usually shade my pictures anyway, so I thought maybe it'd look nice? What do you think?
